Mavic Open Pro wheelset using the original rim. Black, Silver or Grey CD rims are used. This is a classic wheelset favoured by many and is robust and reliable. The rims width favours 23mm or 25mm tyres. Rims of this design with high spoke counts have very high radial stiffness and good lateral stiffness. Torsional stiffness is very high too leading to it just feels right.
- 32F/36R spoke count wheels with a 120kg weight limit.
- Shimano/SRAM 8/9/10/11 speed and Campagnolo 9/10/11/12 speed compatibility
- Light weight non tubeless rims
- Easy tyre fitting.
- Life of the rim warranty against spoke failure.
Spoke count 32F/36R except for the Campagnolo hubs where 32F/32R is oall thats possible. Silver Sapim Race or black Sapim Race spokes are used
The reason why 36 spoke rear is standard is with the advent of 11 speed hubs lateral stiffness drops so a higher spoke count is required to ensure reliability until the rim wears out.
Thinner sapim laser spokes are not used on the rear wheel non drive side as this reduces lateral and radial stiffness and spoke fatigue rate is therefore higher. Not a great idea is it.
This is a classic looking wheeset. The high spoke count at the rear is set so I dont have to set a restrictive weight limit.
The hubs used are Silver Shimano Tiagra RS400 Black, Shimano 105 R7000, Miche Primato, Royce Mid flange/Titan or Campagnolo Record hubs.
The Campagnolo hubs are supplied with a steel Shaimno freehub is shimano is required. The lighter alloy FH-BO015X1 freehub can be supplied for a £13 surcharge. Record hubs can be fitted with the CULT bearing for £140 including fitting. These options can be paid for buy contact the shop.
