Ridea hubs new!
Well I have finally got round to doing a build report on these hubs. They arrived with the Big Mama distribution earlier this year and I bought a couple of sets. I am pricing them at £220 for a pair.
The rear hub use 6802 bearings in the rear shell and two bigger bearings in the freehub. the freehub is shimano 11 speed compatible. The hub uses a stiff 15mm alloy axle. The freehub has 72 points of engagement which is more than needed but hey ho it makes a nice sound. The hub dimensions are not traditional. Rear DS flange is 55mm PCD which is nice and the NDS flange PCD is 44mm. The DS centre flange to centre hub spacing is 17mm but the NDS flange to centre is 44mm. This for most rims is too far outboard as it lowers NDS spoke tension below what is acceptable. However four rims only three of which I use are available in offset drilling. the DT Swiss RR440, Ryde Pulse Sprint and Ryde Pulse Comp (the other being the velocity A23) increase NDS spoke tension so making the hubs more than useable.
With the Ryde pulse sprint rims a 1300g wheelset result and a stiff one. What's not too like.
