H Plus Son TB14 wheelset

Posted by Malcolm Borg
Most bike these days have wheels with deep alloy rims black spoke black hubs e.t.c Many older bike are stuck if they want to keep the period look. However H plus Son make the TB14 in 32H and 36H drillings. It is shallow and 23mm wide. The rim is double eyleted. For a customer with an old Vicount I have built the silver TB14 rims on polished Novatec A171F172 hubs (same as ambrosio Zenith) with Sapim Race spokes.

Classic wheels to give an old bike a new lease of life. What could be better. Rear wheel weight is 1008g and the front is 857g. Not even heavy.

Kinlin XR-200 wheelset under 1500g 24F/28R

Posted by Francis Borg
Kinlin XR-200 wheelset built 2x front 24H and 3x rear 28H. I was forced to use this lacing as the spokes for radial front and 2x rear are unavailable again.

Hubs used are Miche Primato's 10/11 speed for shimano/sram. Front wheel; weight 666g and rear 814g. Thee are for a cat 2 racer under 70kg.

Light weight and they will last but soft brake pads whould be used with these rims. The rims are 22mm deep 19mm wide and weight just 385g. They make great wheels for criterium racing and very long climbs on a weight weenie bike for a light rider.

Ultegra 28H hubs on archetype rims

Posted by Francis Borg

Well this is something unusal for the U.K just because of the hubs. The rims are the polished H Plus Archetype, spoke Sapim Laser with alloy nipples and the hub well they are Ultegra 6600 28H. A bit unusual but I can get these and I have another pair on the shelf.

Weight rear 972g Weight front 770g Not bad for wheels with Ultegra hubs.

Tifosi CK-7 the spec I would have but someone bought it!

Posted by Malcolm Borg

I also sell Tifosi CK7's an excellent Audax, light touring or do it all road bike. I generally do not sell the standard spec as I am a bit of a bike snob and so it seems are my customers, I prefer bikes to be just right you know all the kit is matching and of the same tier, handle bar and stem of the same brand and the colour goes with the finish of the rest of the bike. For this reason I fit Veloce cranksets in stead of the Miche Team EVO and I also fit the glossy black Deda RS01 seatpost Zero1 stem and RHM01 bars which match the glossy black of the groupset. Details you see like this make me happy.

This bike went one better a Brooks saddle, deda finishing kit and deda bar tape as the bar tape brand should match bars and stem if possible, Veloce triple groupset 28mm Gator skin tyres and the glossy black SKS mudguards. The wheels well I showed the customer some H Plus Archetype rims on Campagnolo Record hubs and well he went week at the knees so those went on.

I really like this and if he had not paid for it I would have happily kept it.
