NTN bearings

£8.33

NTN make the finest bearings in the world.

We buy direct from NTN - SNR europe to ensure we receive the good stuff.

NTN bearings are made to tight tolerances. What listed here is grade 0. However given NTN's tight tolleres that really means grade 4. So if the bearing seats are properly machined the fit should be the same each time.

NTN bearings come with different seal options.

LLU is contacting seals. Above 60rpm air pressure increase in the bearing forces the seal out so the seal drag falls away. Thats 5 mph on a 700c wheel with a road tyre. Due to the extra drag these are not best suited to BB bearings unless your minium cadence is 90 rpm. Spin down tests are junk so dont worry that the LLU seals show poor performance on this test. Spinning down to 100 rpm there's almost no difference between LLB and LLU bearings the differences start to show below 100 rpm and really show below 60 rpm when the LLB seal regains full contact. On the up side water does not get past these easily so bearing life is long.

LLB is non contacting seals. Bearing life is shorter than with LLU seals but there is less seal drag. This is the type of seal commonly used in most bicycle hubs and bottom brackets. NTN LLB seal though is heavy touch which means in your hand it feels like it has more drag. That drag gone at 10 rpm but it does mean immerse an NTN bearing with LLB seals in water and a comparible bearing with similar light touch seals and there's less water ingress. I.e you can wash your bike with less water ingress.
